Sinner ended defending champion Novak Djokovic’s 33-match winning streak at the Australian Open, a run stretching back to 2018, to reach his maiden grand slam final, where he will face Russia’s Daniil Medvedev on Sunday. MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — A solitary loss in 11 semifinals at the Australian Open was nowhere near enough for Novak Djokovic to contemplate a generational change in tennis. Djokovic didn't get a look at a breakpoint during a 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-3 loss to Jannik Sinner on Friday that ended the 10-time Australian Open champion's unbeaten streak after making the final four at Melbourne Park. “This tournament hasn’t been up to my standard or criteria or the level that I would normally play or expect myself to play,” Djokovic said, "but doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s beginning of the end, you know, as some people like to call it. But no man has won more Grand Slam titles than Djokovic, who lifted his record to 24 with three titles last year when he went 27-1 in the majors tournaments. Djokovic destroys Sinner to win record seventh ATP Finals title

TURIN, Nov 19 (Reuters) - A ruthless Novak Djokovic destroyed home favourite Jannik Sinner to win the ATP Finals title for a record seventh time on Sunday -- reaching yet another milestone in his incredible career. A sell-out crowd in Turin's Pala Alpitour had hoped to cheer the 22-year-old Sinner to the biggest title of his career but Djokovic was simply in a different league. At one point Djokovic won 14 points in a row against a player ranked fourth in the world before Sinner briefly slowed the march of the 24-time Grand Slam champion. Djokovic also failed to convert break points that would have given him a 5-2 lead as a few errors crept into his game. The crowd tried their best to energise their man but Djokovic moved on towards victory and a Sinner double fault ended the contest.

The caller was UBS (UBS) chairman Colm Kelleher. “I was definitely not expecting the phone call,” Ermotti told CNN on the sidelines of a conference in Geneva last month. UBS paid 60% less than the beaten-down value of Credit Suisse shares just before its last-ditch rescue over a weekend. Even if Credit Suisse had none of that painful baggage, the sheer size of the two banks makes the merger an enormous undertaking. “The fact that UBS was asked to be part of the solution (to Credit Suisse), that was the ultimate success,” Ermotti told CNN.

Novak Djokovic isn’t going anywhere. A full two decades after turning professional as a skinny teenager in 2003, Djokovic is just one match victory away from finishing a record eighth season as world No. By all normal expectations, the 36-year-old Djokovic should be showing signs of wear by now. Or have a whole generation of players bidding to tear him down. But as he joked this season: “It ain’t happening.”

For Novak Djokovic, his 2008 season, just a few years after he turned pro, was great by any measure. He not only won his first of six ATP Finals, but he began 2008 taking the Australian Open, the first of his 10 titles there and what would become 24 major championships overall. In the semifinals he upset the top seed, Roger Federer, and beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final. By season’s end, Djokovic had won two other tournaments, including Masters 1000s in Indian Wells and Rome. That year solidified Djokovic as a bona fide member of what was to become known as the Big Three, alongside Federer and Nadal.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has described Newey as “the only bloke that can see air” in an interview with Red Bull. And Mercedes eventually ceded its position at the summit of F1 to Red Bull in 2022 after being in control for much of the turbo-hybrid era. But it does raise the question: how far can Red Bull go?

CNN —The Australian Open will add an extra day to its schedule next year in a bid to reduce pressure on players and fans following a series of punishing matches in recent years that ended well into the early hours. The Australian Open has a demanding schedule in the early rounds of the tournament; five matches are regularly played each day on the show courts – three during the day session and two at night. But organizers did not mention whether there would be a cutoff time for night matches. The lack of a time cap in tennis means matches last as long as it takes players to win. Three out of the four grand slams – the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open – currently schedule night sessions, while Wimbledon ends evening sessions at 11 p.m. with unfinished matches resuming the following day.

Federer vows not to be a stranger to tour in retirement

Sept 23 (Reuters) - Swiss maestro Roger Federer said he had missed everything about tennis following his retirement last year and vowed to not be a stranger to the tour despite his off-court commitments and the challenge of parenting two sets of twins. "In a way, I miss everything about the game, the exciting moments spent on court, break points saved, winning match points, holding up trophies, walking past the fans, taking selfies," Federer said. I don't have the weight of another match, of another practice where the body is maybe not right. Can't have it all, I've had it for 25 years and it was incredible and I'd do it all over again." "I've made myself a promise that I'll be no stranger to the tour, I'll try to come back from time to time, not all the time, but from time to time," Federer said.
